About This Site

cobbgame.com is an independent fan site for the free survival horror game Cobb Can Move. It exists so you can start playing in one click, and find a straight answer when the game kills you.

What this site is

Cobb Can Move is a top-down pixel-art roguelite built by the indie developer abho in roughly a week for Major Jam 7: Wild — a jam it went on to win. It is free, it runs in a browser, and it is deliberately unfair. Most players die in the first two levels without ever understanding why.

This site is a small, self-funded project run by one person who got stuck on the coal levels and started taking notes. Those notes became the guide, tips and wiki pages you see in the navigation. Everything here is written for someone who is mid-run and needs an answer fast — not for someone who wants three thousand words before the first useful sentence.

We are not a portal that copies descriptions off itch.io. Every rule, item and creature behaviour documented here was checked by playing the same build this site embeds.

What you'll find here

  • Play — the current browser build, embedded so you can start with no download and no account.
  • Guide — controls, the coal-and-light loop, breakers, and a level-by-level walkthrough of the seven-level Story campaign.
  • Tips — the specific mistakes that end most runs, and what to do instead.
  • Wiki — reference pages for rules, items, and how Cobb tracks you in the dark.
  • More games — a hand-picked shelf of other short browser horror games we have actually played through.

How this site is researched and written

Every guide starts as a real playthrough. When the game updates we replay the affected levels before editing a page — version 1.7 is the build currently documented here.

Mechanics we have not been able to confirm ourselves are either left out or marked as unconfirmed. When two sources disagree about how something works, we test it instead of picking one.

The site is translated into seven languages. Translations are reviewed for meaning rather than pushed through a converter and published: a walkthrough that mistranslates "breaker" is worse than no walkthrough at all.

Found something wrong? Tell us. Corrections are the fastest way to make this site better, and we credit them when you want to be credited.

Why we cover other games

Cobb Can Move takes a few hours to see in full. Once you have escaped the dungeon, the obvious next question is what to play next.

So we keep a short, curated shelf of other free browser horror games — Dead Plate, When the Clock Stops, Trees Hate You and a handful of others — each with its own page, its own playthrough notes and its own embed. These are recommendations, not paid placements. Nobody pays to appear on that shelf or to be ranked higher on it.

Content and age guidance

This is a horror site. The games covered here deal with darkness, being hunted, and on a few pages with mature horror themes. Those pages say so directly above the game, before it loads.

Nothing here is aimed at children. Where a game goes beyond atmospheric horror, we label it on that game's own page rather than burying the warning somewhere in the footer.

Independence, advertising and affiliation

This is an independent fan site. It is not affiliated with abho, with itch.io, or with any of the developers whose games we cover. All game titles, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective creators.

Playing here costs nothing. The site is paid for by advertising, which is why some pages carry ad slots. Ads are never dressed up as game buttons or as navigation, and we do not accept payment for a favourable write-up.

See the Privacy Policy for what data is and is not collected, and the Terms of Service for everything else.

If you enjoy Cobb Can Move, please support abho on the official itch.io page.

Contact

Corrections, broken embeds, takedown requests and partnership questions all go to one place: support@cobbgame.com. You can also use the contact page.

We read everything. Requests from a game's rights holder are handled first.
