Cobb Can Move Speedrun Guide
Cobb Can Move was not built around speedrunning, but the seven-level Story campaign rewards aggressive, route-aware play. These are the fastest-known habits — not frame-perfect tricks, but the right mindset and the small wins that compound.

What “speedrunning” means here
There is no in-game timer and no official leaderboard. The community usually measures real time from level 1 start to level 7 exit on Story mode — Endless does not have a goal to race toward. Most timed runs use a manual splitter (LiveSplit or similar) and a clean fresh seed.
Procedural generation matters
Every level layout is procedural and every rule is rolled. There is no “any% glitchless” skip path because there is no fixed path — your route is the seed you get. Good speedruns are about reading the layout fast, not memorising it.
The speedrun mindset
- Light less, route more. Casual play lights every room. A speedrun lights only the rooms on your exit path.
- Read the rule, then move. The rule banner is your strategy for the level. Pausing two seconds to plan beats reacting for the next thirty.
- Commit to a breaker order. Decide your breaker order before you take the first one. Backtracking to flip a missed breaker is where most runs die.
- Carry a rock through every doorway. A held rock costs nothing and is the difference between dying to and stunning a Cobb that turns the corner.
- Eat carrots eagerly under Starving. A few seconds lost to a carrot is cheap; running out of food in the middle of a routing chain is fatal.
Fast strats by modifier
Each rule changes what “fastest” means. The right speed under one rule is suicide under another:
| Rule | Speedrun adjustment |
|---|---|
| HEAR | Stop sprinting unless you are out of line of sight. Throw rocks before you cross, never after — sound pulls Cobb to your last loud action. |
| SEE | Plan a route that hugs walls and pillars. Light the rooms you will actually pass through; do not waste coal on visual coverage Cobb won't enter. |
| SMELL | Forward-only routes. Doubling back through a fresh room costs more time than a slightly longer untouched path. |
| REACH | Wide corners. A speed-mindful runner cuts corners; under REACH that is a death sentence. |
| DUPLICATE | The deadliest rule. Prioritise the shortest task chain, accept a slower split route over a faster pinch point, and save your rock for the worst Cobb. |
| FASTER | Light pools instead of footraces. Stuns reset Cobb's positioning — a rock stun (since v1.6) is a free three-second skip. |
The v1.6 rock-stun routine
Since v1.6, a direct rock hit stuns Cobb. This is the single biggest fast-strat lever the game has, and most casual runs underuse it.
- Hold a rock through every doorway — see above. The cost of carrying one is zero.
- Aim for the body, not the gap. A rock that goes past Cobb is wasted. Get close enough that you can't miss before you throw.
- Use the stun to reposition, not to attack. A stunned Cobb is a free window to flip a breaker or cross a room — do not waste the window standing still.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a Cobb Can Move speedrun leaderboard?
Not an official one. The community tracks Story-mode times informally — clips on YouTube and Reddit are the usual reference. Most runs use a manual splitter like LiveSplit and time from level 1 start to level 7 exit.
What is the fastest way to clear Cobb Can Move?
Read the rule banner, commit to a breaker order, light only the rooms on your exit path, carry a rock through every doorway, and use the v1.6 rock-stun to skip dangerous Cobb positioning. There is no fixed any% route because the dungeon is procedural.
Are there speedrun glitches in Cobb Can Move?
No major routing skips are publicly known. The procedural generation makes set-seed runs uncommon, and the developer abho has patched performance issues quickly when they appeared. Fast runs come from rule reading and routing, not glitches.
