Cobb Can Move Survival Tips

You know the loop. These tips are about long, controlled Endless runs.

Route discipline

Long runs fall apart when you wander. Pick a route, light it, finish the task and leave — every extra room you enter is more coal burned and more chances for Cobb to find you.

Decide your breaker order before you flip the first one, and keep a mental map of which rooms must stay lit so you never route yourself into the dark.

Pace the late game

In Endless, Cobb’s pressure climbs as the level goes on, and v1.7 still lets Cobb accelerate during a long pursuit (just less than before). Do not let a chase drag — break it early with a stun or a line-of-sight break rather than running a marathon you will lose.

Keep a reserve: a spare rock and enough coal for the room before the exit. Running a route on empty is how good runs end.

Advanced rock play

A rock is not only panic insurance. Since v1.6 a direct hit stuns Cobb, and v1.7 fixed the rocks-not-stunning bug during pursuit — so the stun is now reliable enough to plan around.

Use it to move Cobb before you need to cross a dangerous space, not after you are already cornered.

  • Carry a rock through every doorway — the cost of holding one is zero.
  • Aim for the body and get close. A rock that sails past Cobb is wasted.
  • Spend the stun on movement, not on standing still — flip a breaker or cross the room in the window it buys.
  • On sound levels, throw away from your route to drag Cobb off your path instead of stunning it.

Reading dangerous rule combinations

A rule plus a debuff is where Endless runs die. The worst pairings and how to handle them:

CombinationWhy it is dangerousWhat to do
DUPLICATE + FASTERMultiple Cobbs you cannot outrun.Keep routes short and lit; stun the nearest, never try to flee the pack.
HEAR + StarvingEvery loud action draws Cobb while you must detour for carrots.Eat early, move in pulses, and plan carrot pickups into your route.
SEE + FreezingSlowed movement while Cobb commits on sight.Stay in shadow and pre-light a route so you never freeze in the open.
REACH + FASTERA fast Cobb with a long grab.Take corners very wide and lean on stuns instead of speed.

Endless-mode habits

  • Endless starts at level 3 and never ends — play for a clean, long run, not a finish line.
  • Reset your plan every level; the rule and layout change each time.
  • Favour forward progress over fully clearing a floor — unexplored rooms you do not need are free safety.
  • When a run is going long, slow down. Fatigue mistakes, not Cobb, end most deep runs.

Endless has no win state

Every Endless run ends in a death — the goal is depth and a clean line, not survival forever. See endings and game events for how runs resolve.
